Propolis is a bee product. It is used as a building material for the beehive. Plant resins are the basic material from which the so-called putty resin is made. It is made up of many different substances. These include e. g. vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, trace elements, and flavonoids.
Although our animals come into constant contact with bacteria, viruses, and fungi, they normally remain healthy. To achieve this, the immune system is always on alert. Pathogens that enter the body are identified and destroyed. However, stress, environmental influences, and the natural aging process weaken the immune system and thus the body's own defenses. Pathogens have an easy game and our animals become ill. The valuable ingredients in propolis can effectively support the immune system in its work.
Flavonoids
Propolis is particularly rich in flavonoids. Flavonoids are natural plant substances and strengthen the immune system. They also act as `radical scavengers´. Free radicals are highly aggressive and can cause lasting damage to cells. Flavonoids protect the cells from the attacks of free radicals and keep the organism young. The younger the organism is, the better the immune system functions.
