Psyllium husks are a rich source of soluble fiber. The powder swells to many times its original volume when combined with water. So-called mucilage polysaccharides are found in the husks of the seeds and are responsible for the pronounced swelling behavior and high water retention. These mucilage substances naturally increase the feed volume and are thus excellently suited as a low-carbohydrate satiety supplement. These mucilages naturally increase the volume of the food, making them an excellent satiety supplement for dogs prone to obesity. Another positive effect is the increase in the volume of feces, which can be a support for recurring problems with the anal glands. Soluble fiber, as present in the psyllium, is also suitable for sensitive dogs.
